Friends of Thorndown (FOTS)

FOTS would like to welcome you and your child to Thorndown School. We hope that along the way your child will benefit from some of the fundraising we do and as a family you’ll come along to some of the fun activities we arrange throughout the year to raise those funds.

Who are FOTS?

We are a committee made up of parents, grandparents, teachers, governors and anyone else that wants to get involved to raise additional money for the school, besides that which we get from the council. To give you an idea of the type of things we help fund, here’s a few things we’ve helped towards in the last few years.

New outdoor play equipment, subsidised school trips, funding for books so that the children have the most up to date published stories, classics and favourites and most recently, we have placed an order for new scooters, a mud kitchen, forest school items and playground toys for the children.

What can you look forward to?

Please see below our events for the year ahead.

What can you do?

Obviously we would always welcome new members to the committee, the more of us there are, the more we can do and I guarantee you’ll have some laughs along the way. If joining isn’t for you, you can still help. Like all fundraising events we rely on the generosity of our parents to send in second- hand toys, books, unwanted items for raffle prizes and anything else you think may help.  If you’re unable to do any of that, then simply attending the events is a great way to help, join in school life, make new friends and have some quality family time.

So if you are interested in joining us, have new ideas or just want more information please get in touch. All committee members wear red polo shirts at the events so we’re easy to spot and happy to chat about any queries you may have.

FOTS Events

In 2022 we were unable to hold several events throughout the year so it was decided to host one big family event in the Summer. Mr Happy’s Circus attended the school in July 2022 and as you can see from the videos below it was a very popular event.
